We Believe in a God who truly is God.

The true God must be eternal, without beginning or end. So, He pre-existed all that is, and yes, even caused all else to come into existence by His power. Logically, there must be a First Great Cause that would precede and cause all else. And that God who is the First Great Cause, the Creator of all, is the true God.

The true God must be almighty. Therefore, He can never be thwarted. If He could be hindered, then whatever the power that hindered Him would be mightier than the Almighty and consequently become God. But the true God has ever, now does, and shall continue to do all He pleases in the heavens and in the earth. He does His will and none can stay His hand.

The true God has all knowledge (past, present and future) and all wisdom. Thus, He can never be perplexed or confused. Whatever He has ever had in His mind to accomplish, must certainly come to pass. The true God of all knowledge could have, and would have, anticipated any and all obstacles to His purposes. And the true God of all wisdom must have solved any opposition to His will, even before it could obstruct Him.

The true God is perfect in all His ways. He has always and shall ever be perfection. Furthermore, all that He does is perfect. Imperfections belong to creatures who have strayed from Him. He changes not as creatures change. He remains the same yesterday, today and forever. He is past perfect, presently perfect, and future perfect. Anything less than perfection cannot be the true God.

Many proclaim a weak, man-made, false god. This “little god” craves and pleads his cause to men. (The true God is not a beggar!) This “false god” is bewildered and troubled at men’s lack of cooperation. (The true God is never confounded!) This “weak god” tries and fails. (The true God speaks and it is done!) This “man-made god” desires and is unable to achieve. (The true God does what He pleases, when He pleases, and all He pleases!) This true God is who we attempt to worship at this church.

We Believe in the Sovereign Grace of God

God is past our finding out. Yet, He has revealed much about Himself through His divine unveiling in the Holy Bible. We can learn much about who He is and what he does from the revelations within His inspired, infallible scriptures.

God has proclaimed Himself to be the one and only God. He is ultimately and totally perfect. Any change in Him would be a decreasing of His perfection. But this could never occur because He is unchangable. Moreover, He has declared that He is almighty and that none can hinder His intentions. Having all knowledge and all wisdom, His intentions are as perfect as He is. And we can rest assured that His perfect intentions will be brought to full completion by His divine guidance.

His glorious capability is affirmed by His creation. The wonders of the complexities of His creation marvel the admiring creature who pauses to reflect upon its magnificence. Furthermore, He continues to providentially maintain the intricate balances required to perpetuate His creation. Underneath everything are His everlasting arms of preservation and without His providence all would cease to be.

But perhaps God’s crowning glory is the salvation of His people. Like any of His intentions His plan of salvation follows a perfectly established design. The central figure in His predetermined arrangement of salvation is Jesus Christ. “Thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their sins” was spoken by the angel prior to His birth. But even before the creation, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit entered into a covenant agreement concerning the salvation of His children.

If salvation were to occur, Jesus would have to accomplish it for His people. Sin had such a profound and severe effect on humanity that man could not and would not save himself. It produced a separation between God and man of such magnitude, that only God in His power could bridge the tremendous gap. The truth of the matter is that a carnal man has no will nor desire to approach unto God. The idea of drawing near to God is the furthest thing from his mind. The carnal nature of a human being separated from God is of such a depraved condition that according to the scriptures he will not come to God and cannot come to God. (Jn 5:40 and Jn 6:44) This fallen creature is not righteous and will not seek God. (Rom 3:10-12) As a matter of fact, Godly things will appear to him as foolishness and he cannot know and understand them. (I Cor 2:14)

Well a person might say, if a man cannot and will not come, then how can any be saved? The answer is Jesus Christ.

According to God’s divine revelation, He had a marvelous plan even before the creation of the world for the salvation of His people. The words His people are used because He in His sovereign grace chose or elected a particular group of people from sinful humanity. The scriptures declare that these people were chosen from every nation and family of the world and that God predestinated them to be adopted into His family and be conformed to the likeness of His Son Jesus Christ.

But in order to take them into His family and make them in His Son’s image, their sins must be taken from them. According to God’s design, the Savior Jesus Christ would accomplish that painful task by His death on the cross. God in His purity could not just ignore the sin. His perfect justice demanded that the sins be punished. Christ took the punishment in the place of His elect and chosen people.

In addition, the rebellious nature of each of His people which causes them not to seek Him, nor come to Him, nor desire Him must be dealt with by God. Although no unregenerate person can come to Him, God comes to each of His chosen people through the power of His Spirit in the new birth. The new birth is a sovereign, God powered, God initiated, irresistable action whereby Jesus Christ breathes the Holy Spirit into one of His individual children. That person from that moment has eternal life and from that moment he has Christ in him. He is now profoundly different. A moment before this wonderful work he could not come to God; but God in His grace came to him. Before this glorious act of God upon him, he would not come to God; but, he is now one with God. It is such a life altering event that the will, the nature, and even the manner of thinking is changed in the individual. What once seemed foolishness now seems desirable. What once seemed detestable now seems lovable. What once was furthest from the mind is now the center of attention. The one who once would not and could not come, now shall come to God by the effectual drawing of God.

To God be all the glory for the salvation of His people. From start to finish He is responsible for the wisdom of the plan and the bringing to pass of the events necessary to the culmination of the plan. And He will complete what He has begun. All that the Father gave to the Son before the beginning of the world will be eternally delivered to the Father by the power and work of the Son. None will be lost. Whom He predestinated to save, He will justify by the blood of Christ on the cross. Whom He predestinated and justified by Jesus’ blood, He will call by the life giving voice of His Spirit. And whom He predestinated and justified by His blood and called by His Spirit, He will glorify and preserve in eternity forever. To God be all the glory!!!
